We get sent fabric samples on a regular basis, and while we may decide to not stock those fabrics I hate to see any scrap of fabric wasted.

So last night, after dinner, I sorted out the children and got to thinking about the latest envelope of samples that I had sat on my work desk, all of the pieces were less than 3 inches long and 2.5 inches wide, perfect, cut them into squares and make a patchwork something …

Like many crafters I have many interests, I like to sew, cross stitch, crochet, knit and dabble in paper crafts.  I have several cross stitch projects on the go right now, so I thought a project bag would be a very useful make.

I am very pleased with the results.

So I thought, as i’m pleased with this bag and it was relatively quick to make that I would share with you how I made it.  Later this month or in early January I’ll make a video tutorial.

 

Supply List

If you would like to make a bag with me then you will need: (everything is available to buy in our shop):

14″ Zip (nylon, not too thick as we will be cutting it down)

Fabric pieces for the top – you will need 45 pieces of fabric cut down to 2.5″ square – a charm pack or scraps from a jelly roll would work really well for this

Fabric for the back of the bag – a single fat quarter

Lining fabric – I used a plain green cotton solid for the lining

A half metre of Pellon TP917F fusible thermolam for crafts and sewing
