This 2-1/2 x 12-1/2 inch rectangle ruler is the perfect companion for anyone who loves to work with the 2-1/2 inch pre-cuts on the market. It features easy-to-read black and white markings printed in 1 inch grids marked in 1/8 and 1/4 inch increments. Use the easy-to-read, black numbers (printed on white dots) and the 1/4 inch grip sides to cut whole inches. The 1/4 inch dashed lines printed on two adjoining sides aid in trimming seam allowances. Use the patented Turn-A-Round feature designated by the easy to read, numerical white numbers (printed on black dots) and the 1/2 inch grip sides to add the 1/2 inch seam allowance. Use the white 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in whole inch increments. Use the black 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in half inch increments. An additional black 45 degree line is placed so that two angles cross 1/4 inch away from the outside edge. Use these markings to square up flying geese units; squares set on point or mark cross-hatching. The ruler also features a 30degree/60degree angle. White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the rectangle so the center of the ruler is easily distinguishable. Use these lines to fussy cut stripes and borders.
The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts! This 2-1/2 inch width is also available in 18-1/2 inch (Item CGR218); 24-1/2 inch (Item CGR224); and 36-1/2 inch (Item CGR236) lengths.
Total Size – 2-1/2in x 12-1/2in

Fine Black and White Markings
The black and white markings are easy to read when the ruler is placed on both dark and light fabrics.
Follow the numbers in the white circles when cutting whole inches and the numbers in the black circles when cutting half inch increments.
Use the ¼” dashed line along two sides of the ruler to trim seam allowances.
1″ Grid Markings
The squares and rectangles feature 1” black grid lines both horizontally and vertically.
Place the ruler vertically to cut strips. When using the rectangles, sub-cut the strips by turning the ruler horizontally to take advantage of the full length of the ruler.
Non-Slip Embedded Gripper
Creative Grids® unique grip is why these rulers are the best on the market. It’s the secret to cutting fabric with ease and accuracy. The grip slides easily over the fabric while positioning the ruler but stays in place as soon as pressure is applied.
The squares and rectangles feature ¼” grip on two adjoining sides and ½” grip on the opposite two sides to differentiate the Turn-a-Round feature.
Turn-A-Round Features
The Turn-a-Round Feature is shown on all squares and rectangle rulers.
Use the markings in the white dots (and ¼” grip) to cut whole inches and fractional increments. Turn the ruler around to use the markings in the black dots (and ½” grip). By using the half-inch black circle markings, you have effectively added the seam allowance to your pieces that finish to whole inch sizes.
Centering Lines
Our square and rectangle rulers have white horizontal and vertical lines that cross to designate the center of each ruler. Use these markings to square up and trim an appliquéd or embroidered block. Or, center and fussy cut a design or stripe for a sashing or border.
30°, 45°, 60° Angles
Many of the rulers include markings for the most popular angles – 30°, 45° and 60°.
The 45° angles on the rectangle rulers cross on the ¼” line. Use these markings to trim ¼” away from the points of flying geese units or blocks set on point. Or, use these angles to mark cross-hatching or cut mitered corners. Use the 45° angle that begins at each corner to square up half-square triangles.

History
All of our rulers are manufactured in the USA. Sheila Waterfield of Leicester, England essentially started Creative Grids® in 1989.
The family owned business at the time involved plastics. She realized that the scraps from the plastics company could be turned into templates for her quilting friends. Soon the Waterfield’s had developed a variety of quilting templates.
Sheila decided to print in black and white so the quilter could distinguish measurements and markings on light and dark fabrics. She then invented the opaque, non-slip grip that sets Creative Grids® rulers apart from all others. When her daughter Rachel Cross took over designing the rulers, the revolutionary Turn-a-Round feature was added.
